Our next single "Dreaming of You" comes out on Friday, November 18th, and we'll be celebrating in Williamsburg, Brooklyn at the adorable St. Mazie Bar & Supper Club! I'll be DJing classics from 6 to 8pm, the cocktails will be flowing, with loose dress code of whatever makes you feel saucy. Hope to see you there!
Friends, I'm so excited to announce our next single "Dreaming of You" will be released Friday, November 18th! Here is a preview of the artwork to get you in the right mood.
We wrote this song for a short film entitled "The Best and Worst Days of George Morales' Unnaturally Long Life" which is currently screening at film festivals around the US. It was so much fun diving into the world of jazz and standards, as those have always been some of my favorite influences.
Stay tuned - I can't wait to share this one.
Until next time,
All of October, I listen to Halloween- and monster-inspired music. This year, I've collected a bunch of my favorites in a Spotify playlist called "Halloween Dreams" - listen & follow for your own classic, creepy soundtrack.
Speaking of October, I recently journeyed up north of Manhattan for some foliage and fall cheer, and on the gloomiest Saturday, my dreams came true. My crew also popped into this fantastic antique shop (among many others) - vintage globes and decanters were the haul of the day.
And one more Halloween-related treat in closing - one of my favorite series of photos - this collection documenting a black cat audition in Hollywood in 1961.
See more photos from the audition scene here.
Happy Autumn, my friends! Until next time,
Hello world, it's me - Deidre! For those of you that are new here, Deidre & the Dark is a band I started as a way to channel some of my favorite midcentury influences and to create some seriously sassy female characters to deliver them. I love the blend of old and new. In fact, I love a good juxtaposition in general.
Why did I start this blog? Mostly because I have a strong urge to share the things that tickle me pink, and I wanted a home base for all of those things, in addition sharing a bit more of my adventures, creative process, collaborators and partners in crime (including my cat).
Also because I can't wait to share more new music with you on a more regular basis - which I will be writing about here. So I hope you'll come back & visit again real soon. If you'd like to stay in touch and never miss an update, make sure to take five seconds & subscribe to the e-mail list.
I'd love to hear from you, so please keep in touch in the comments or send me message!
Until next time,
